Working Too Hard? Take a Last Minute Break

If you’ve made the decision that you’re going to part with your hard earned cash for something, it may actually pay to be flexible or, dare I say, disorganised.

If you’ve made the decision that you need a break from the real world and are going to go on holidays, the key now is to be as flexible as possible so you can make the best use of online packages or last minute deals and discounts that are available.

To start with, I can’t go past the very obvious lastminute.com which lists flights and hotels that offer (you guessed it) last minute deals. With Easter coming up, there are already some great deals to be had, but often these deals get better the closer you get to the actual date of travel, so it may be worth holding out on that hotel booking in Malaga.

Why do hotels and airlines bother doing this if they could just charge full price all of the time and make more profit? If they make a deal look good, there’s more chance that there will be bums on plane seats and sleepyheads on hotel beds. In the end, getting half as much for a room is always going to be better than getting nothing at all, which is why deals are very often available during the low travel season.

Apart from lastminute.com, there are a number of other, lesser known sites who have snapped up this idea of offering you a last minute deal on your holiday. These are always worth searching through as you never know who has teamed up to be able to get you the best deal for that trip to Southern France.

If you’re in need of sand and surf, it may be worth checking out the following sites:

Monster Travel has a number of cancellation deals which usually means that the airline/hotel needs you to step in fast with your money and will offer a substantial discount so they don’t lose out too much

Cheap Holidays as the name suggests, this site has a range of cheap holiday options and will even allow you to search for any holiday in the world by price range. Who knows where your £200 can take you?

Low Cost Beds this site does does flights as well as beds. It has a range of accommodation options from self-catered apartments to all inclusive holidays so you can decide how lazy you want to be.

Directline Holidays currently have a £100 off deal and still offer a choice of accommodation options. If you’re lacking inspiration, there is also a list of top Summer and Winter holiday destinations for all different prices

Teletext Holidays say they hand pick their deals and offer a range of holiday ideas from ski breaks to cruises. There is currently a competition to win a city break for two to Prague, so you could even end up with the cheapest trip of all.

Obviously the key to these last minute deals is flexibility. The only thing you need to be certain of, is that you want to take a holiday. Otherwise, the pictures of sandy beaches and bustling cities may make you purchase something that you weren’t going to in the first place.

Once you’ve decided that you’ve had enough of work/ family/ British weather and need a change of scenery, know how much you can spend on your trip without having to skip a rent payment. From here on the sky is the limit for where you go to and what better way to escape than by going to a place that you didn’t even know existed before.
